The UO Student Health Center offers confidential or partially anonymous HIV testing to students. The test costs $12.00 To receive the test, you must set up an appointment with either an HIV counselor or one of the clinicians. If you don't wish to tell the receptionist the nature of the visit, just say it is "personal". You must give your name and student ID number (social security number) when placing the appointment. The testing session will involve pre-testing counseling for about 20 minutes. The counselor will discuss procedures of the test, limits of the test's accuracy, risk factors, safer sex practices, as well as establish prior sexual history. You are under no obligation to divulge any information other than what you wish to discuss with the counselor. When your results are back, you will receive further counseling on risk factors and safer sex practices. To make an appointment, call 346-4441. To talk to an HIV counselor.
